What started as an argument over Snapchat ended in the arrest of a Salisbury man in the brutal beating of his girlfriend, according to police.
Joshua Paul Long, 31, was arrested and charged with assault on a female after an argument that started at Twin Peaks in Concord. WBTV reported the couple began arguing because Long would not let his girlfriend see what he posted on Snapchat.
When the couple left the restaurant and began driving back to Salisbury on I-85, police said Long started to beat the woman while driving and she unsuccessfully tried to jump out of the window.
After arriving back at their home in Salisbury, WBTV reported that Long allegedly took a broomstick and began beating the woman. She then used her SOS feature on her phone to alert her mother she was in danger.
Her mother notified Salisbury Police, but when officers arrive on the scene Long refused to let them inside. After an investigator used a PA system and phone to speak to Long, he eventually allowed the woman to leave the house.
WBTV said she was taken to the hospital and later released.
