Gastonia Hunter Huss at No. 3 Central Cabarrus

WHEN: Friday, 7:30 p.m.

RECORDS: Hunter Huss 2-1 overall, 0-0 Big South 3A Conference; Central Cabarrus 3-1 overall, 0-0 South Piedmont 3A

COACHES: Hunter Huss’ Jamar McKoy is in his sixth season (40-27); Central Cabarrus’ Kenneth McClamrock is in his third season (15-12)

LAST MEETING: These schools have never met on the football field.

BROADCAST: NFHS Network and Radio Free Cabarrus

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Central Cabarrus: senior quarterback Dajon Johnson, running backs Solomon Faulkner and DeAndre Boykins, linebacker Logan Anderson, defensive backs Devon Coley and Kevin Clerge, and receivers Chandler Rivers, Arthur Bailey and Jasaan Rodgers-Freeman; Hunter Huss: quarterback Zo Wallace, running back Malik Corry and Jalen Ledet, receiver Dontavius Nash, linebacker Anthony Dye, defensive backs Vontray Ratliff and Jacob Brackett

MATCHUP: The Vikings are rolling with Johnson engineering the offense, Anderson quarterbacking the defense and Boykins doing, well, whatever he wants. That’s three wins in a row for Central, but No. 4 won’t come easily against the Huskies. Johnson’s a threat running or passing, but the Vikings must protect the football. Huss has an opportunistic defense that’s intercepted seven passes, deflected 12 throws and forced four fumbles in its three games.
