CONCORD, N.C. - The Kannapolis Reds scored 10 times in the second inning en route to an 18-8 win over Concord Post 51 to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot in Junior American Legion action Monday.

Every Red player in the line-up scored in the second inning and Matt Baucom scored twice.

The Reds are tied with the Davidson County Braves for second place in the Area III. They split their league games.

Both the Reds and the Braves play Wednesday to wrap up the regular season. The Reds are at home against Mooresville at 7 p.m.

Concord Post 51 finishes the regular season at Lake Norman.

Kannapolis Coach Dean Mullinax said if both teams win Wednesday there will be a lottery to see who gets the final playoff spot.

Reds centerfielder Casey Ritchie had a two-run triple and scored three runs Monday. He also completed a double play by throwing out a Post 51 runner at the plate.

Baucom also scored three times and drove in a run. Lane Agrabright had a triple and a single and scored twice.

Concord was led by Isaiah Boger, who scored three runs and reached base four times. Grayson Huneycutt had a three-run triple and walked in another run. Jesse McGraw had two RBI singles.

The playoffs for senior teams begin Friday. Concord Post 51 will be on the road at Randolph County. Kannapolis seniors will play either Kernersville or Winston-Salem.
