ARDEN – The Cabarrus Warriors had a fourth consecutive road test on Friday, and wound up losing to Arden Christ School, 47-0.
The Greenies had a 24-point first quarter that they followed with a 21-point second period to enter halftime up 38-0.
“They’re probably the best football team we have played so far, from skill positions to their guys up front,” Warriors coach Brad Hoover said. “We’re down 15-0 off the bat, and we could never really recover.”
Those 15 points came by way of a Pierce Hammonds’ back-to-back touchdown runs in the span of a few minutes.
The Warriors knew the start of this season would be tough, with Hoover referring to it as “the gauntlet.” So a week of rest after playing such tough opponents is welcoming.
The Warriors play host to Community School of Davidson on Sept. 20.
“It’s kind of nice after four weeks on the road against really good teams,” said Hoover. “It’ll be good to prepare for what I think is a much more manageable part of the season. I think we match up better against these six teams.”
