CONCORD – In arguably its biggest win of the season, the Central Cabarrus girls basketball team took a 46-45 home victory over Charlotte Providence Tuesday night.

The Class 3A Vikings (9-5) handed the 4A Panthers (12-2) their second straight loss. Providence is listed as the state’s 12th-ranked team, according to MaxPreps.com.  

Senior guard Ja-el’ Miller led the Vikings with 19 points. Senior guard Demi Case added nine points.

Central Cabarrus effectively took control of the game in the second quarter, using a burst that helped them go into halftime with a 30-19 lead. Providence made a strong run in the third quarter to pull within one point, but the Vikings held on for the victory.
