CHARLOTTE – A poor third quarter contributed mightily to the Cream of Cabarrus second-ranked Hickory Ridge girls basketball team’s 58-35 loss to Myers Park in Tuesday’s Southwestern 4A Conference matchup.

The Ragin’ Bulls trailed by just three points, 20-17, at halftime. But in the third quarter, Hickory Ridge managed only four points, while the Mustangs exploded for 19 points. At the start of the fourth period, the Ragin’ Bulls trailed by 18 points, 39-21, which was too much for them to overcome over the final eight minutes.

Hickory Ridge dropped to 6-7 and 1-2 in the SW4A. Myers Park improved to 8-7, 4-0.

Taylor Henderson led the Mustangs with 17 points. Junior point guard Kennedy Calhoun had 15 points for the Ragin’ Bulls.
