MOUNT PLEASANT – The Mount Pleasant girls basketball team had trouble clinging to a third-quarter lead, and Anson capitalized by rallying to take a 48-33 victory Friday night.
Mount Pleasant led 24-23 early in the third quarter, but Anson turned up the defensive effort and held the Tigers scoreless for a 10-minute stretch that ventured into the fourth quarter.
Jyanna Willoughby led Anson with 17 points. Dymond Sturdivant finished with eight points for Anson, making a pair of 3-point baskets late in the game to help stave off Mount Pleasant's final rally.
Brianna Harwood led Mount Pleasant with seven points, while junior guard Kayla Ballard chipped in with six points, five rebounds and five steals.
Anson’s record is now 5-13 overall and 3-4 in the Rocky River 2A/3A Conference. Mount Pleasant is 4-16 overall, 1-6 in the RRC.
