Mount Pleasant football

The Tigers get ready for a big run.

COACHES: Central Cabarrus’ Kenneth McClamrock is in his third season (13-12); Mike Johns is in his 21st season (130-124)

LAST MEETING: In 2018, the Vikings shut out the Tigers, 42-0.

BROADCAST: YouTube Live (Cabarrus County Game of the Week), WEGO 98.3 FM, 1410 AM, Memories983.com

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Central Cabarrus: quarterback Dajon Johnson, running backs Solomon Faulkner and DeAndre Boykins, linebacker Logan Anderson and defensive backs Devon Coley and Kevin Clerge; Mount Pleasant: quarterback Shane Reigel, defensive back Brennen Jones, and running backs Dalton Miller, Anthony Eury and Brent Reece

MATCHUP: The Vikings seek their second consecutive win, while the Tigers haven’t tasted victory in 2019. Reigel gets his second start in place of injured Ryan Tyson, and a week of experience should help him. But the difference in this game likely will be up front. The Vikings offensive line cleared holes for Boykins and Faulkner to both run for multiple touchdowns last week, but Class 2A Mount Pleasant is similar in size and toughness to 3A Central, so anything can happen.
