WEDDINGTON – A second half filled with offensive struggles was too much for the Cox Mill girls basketball team to overcome Thursday night, and the Chargers lost on the road, 58-37, at Weddington.
Cox Mill fell to 1-1 on the season, and Weddington climbed to 2-0.
The Chargers went into the locker room with a 21-18 advantage at halftime. But in the second half, things changed, as Cox Mill produced just two points in the third quarter, as Weddington nudged its lead to double digits, 30-20.
The Warriors added to their lead in the final quarter to secure the 21-point victory.
Weddington’s Karrah Katzbach had a game-high 17 points.
Cox Mill was led by sophomore Kylie Lewis, who had 12 points. Leah Hines and Nya Tillery both scored eight points.
The Chargers next take the court next Tuesday with a home game against Hough.

Hall racks up the points in Eagles' winÂ
CONCORD – With junior guard Jael Hall pumping in 20 points, the cfa Academy girls basketball rolled to a 70-34 victory over Salem Baptist Christian Academy on Thursday night.
While handing Winston-Salem-based Salem Baptist to its first loss of the season (5-1), the Eagles improved their record to 3-1.
Junior Zykiah Benamin added 12 points for the Eagles, who improved their record to 3-1, while Kaylan Daniels had 11 points.
Kavanna Held led Winston-Salem Baptist with 14 points.
