As a Vietnam veteran and former teacher in Cabarrus County, I support Parish Moffitt in his bid for NC House District 82.

Parish served our country for four years in the Navy as a submariner to earn money to attend college. He understands the challenges facing veterans and the need to exercise fiscal responsibility. During his 20 years as an EMT, Parish witnessed firsthand numerous instances of the neglect of the elderly, and he will be a champion for senior citizens and geriatric care in Raleigh. Improving public education is a priority for Parish. In addition to having taught as a substitute teacher, he has family members who are educators. Parish thus appreciates the difficulties confronting our public-school system.

Although Parish certainly cannot be considered a political insider, he understands how Raleigh works and the concerns of our district after having served the last two years as the liaison for District 82 for Rep. Linda Johnson – our current representative who is retiring. Rep. Johnson has taught Parish the importance of relationships both in our district as well as in Raleigh.

Service to our nation and community have been part and parcel of Parish’s life. He will prove to be a worthy successor to Rep. Linda Johnson as our representative in the NC House. I urge my fellow citizens of District 82 to vote for Parish Moffitt in the upcoming primary and then in the general election.

Russ Olson.
