CONCORD Robert E. Smith, of Concord, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Tucker Hospice House. He was born July 5, 1936, in Buckhannon, W.Va., to the late Paul Hayward and Maxine Rohr Smith. Robert leaves behind his brothers, Paul (Bertha) Smith, Larry (Kathy) Smith and Roger (Ladonna) Smith; his sisters, Shirley (Buck) Berkley, Carolyn (Willie) Moore, Barbara (Sonny) Tenney and Diana (Joe) Bosley; and his three loving grandchildren, John, Kelly and Drayton that made his house a home. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Carolyn Kaye Smith. Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He spent his career as a truck driver working with Southern States Trucking Company. A graveside service, officiated by the Rev. Tim Newton, will be held, Monday July 8, at 11 a.m., at Cabarrus Memorial Gardens, 3892 Hwy 73 E., Concord, NC. In lieu of flowers, please mail donations in memory of Robert E.
