CONCORD On Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019, Clarice J. Schmidt passed away with two of her five children by her side. She was born Sept. 21, 1923, in Ogema, Saskatchewan, Canada. She married Dr. Eric Schmidt June 12, 1947, in Regina, Saskatchewan. She raised her children in Toledo, Ohio. There she also helped run her husband's private medical practice and was a dedicated volunteer at several local charities. Later in her life, she and her husband enjoyed traveling the world on cruises, attending dances, playing bridge, and were avid professional tennis supporters. Her accomplishments included her amazing counted cross-stitch, which were often mistaken for paintings. These works hang in the homes of all her children and many of her grandchildren. She was a masterful cook and baker. She made the best Nanaimo bars in the world, decided by a unanimous vote by her family. She was a dedicated wife to her late husband and wonderful mother to their five children, Lenore, Erica, Deb, Paul and Peter. She was a loving grandmother to her 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Clarence and Grace Horner, and sister, Mona Dickinson.
