SARASOTA, Fla. The world lost an amazing man in the early morning hours Friday, Oct. 25, 2019. Jay Radford passed calmly and peacefully due to complications from an almost two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 45 years young. Jay was a Concord, native, a graduate of Central Cabarrus High School, a proud alumni of the University of North Carolina Charlotte, and lived and worked in the Charlotte area for most of his life. He was a lover of all foods, avid player of video games, twitter junkie, and music aficionado. His ultimate loves, however, were his wife, Carri, and kids, Dillon (20), Chelsea (18), Autumn (14), and Emaline (12). He had a special bond with each of them, and beamed with pride every chance he got to talk about them. Jay's humor and love of life will live on as they hold his memories and sagely advice close to their hearts. Jay and his adoring wife, Carri, moved their family to sunny Sarasota, Fla., in early March of this year in hopes to have more resources in the fight against cancer and to have the warm Florida sun on their faces. Carri will remain in Sarasota with Autumn and Emaline as they learn to do life without their rock. Jay is also survived by his loving family in which he was the baby brother and cool uncle. They include his father, John "Joe" Radford (Martha); mother, Sheila Radford; sisters, Candy Radford Baxter (Brett), Cathy Deuel (Danny); and brothers, John "Marty" Radford and Joseph "Joey" Radford. He had a very special bond with his nieces and nephews, Christine Hooks-Radford and daughter, Cassidy, Brian Radford (Casie) and sons, Caleb and Lincoln, Jarrett Radford, Kaylee Radford, Michael Deuel, Lillian Deuel, Zach Vega, Bradley Radford, Charlotte (T.J.) Radford and daughters, Alexas, Mila, Catelina. Per Jay's wishes, there will not be a formal service held. He celebrated his 45th birthday last December with a huge party, and he wanted that to be how his loved ones remembered him. He wanted people to laugh often and love hard so Jay wanted to encourage people to meet up for a great meal and share stories at their leisure. St. Jude Children's Hospital was a charity near and dear to Jay and Carri. They donated their car to this special place last year and humbly request donations be made there, in his honor.
