CONCORD Mr. Ira E. McQueen, 85, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Tucker Hospice House. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:45 p.m., today (Sunday, July 14), at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 3 p.m., at Carolina Memorial Park. The Rev. Doug Irvin will officiate. Mr. McQueen was born April 16, 1934, in Cabarrus County, the son of the late David F. McQueen and Ruth Goodman McQueen. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Wagoner McQueen. Ira was a 1952 graduate of Harrisburg High School, was a U.S. Army veteran, and retired from the USDA as an inspector. He enjoyed gardening, taking care of his yard, and going to the senior center. He also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory is his son, Gene McQueen of Charlotte; daughter, Donna M. Irvin, her husband, Doug, and their children, Jimmy of Asheville and Katherine of Matthews; daughter, Beth M. Townsend and her husband, Butch, and their children, Chloe and Katie of Sherrills Ford; brothers, David F. McQueen Jr. of Shelby and Glenn E. McQueen of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews.
