May 14, 1958 - January 26, 2020 Howard Hoby Lowe, 61, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Hoby was born May 14, 1958, in Greensboro, to the late Howard C. "Slocum" Lowe and the late Nancy Doretta Jones. He graduated from Northeast Guilford High School in 1976 and went on to obtain his bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. After college, Hoby followed his passion for computers and worked in the IT world for more than 30 years. When Hoby was not working, he enjoyed the outdoors, cycling, watching sports with his friends, and traveling to different cities for both work and pleasure. Hoby is survived by his children, Ashton Rene Nelson and husband, John, of Greenville, N.C., Hannah Karae Lowe of Wilmington, Kegan Zane Lowe and wife, Rachel, of Raleigh; four grandchildren; sister, Johnatha Jones of Daytona Beach, Fla.; and brother, Greg Jones of Greensboro. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 9, at Crossroads Church, 220 George W. Liles Parkway in Concord. In lieu of flowers, and to honor Hoby's passion for cycling, please consider giving a memorial contribution to PeopleForBikes, a nonprofit organization aimed to make bike riding better for everyone.
