September 29, 1945 - February 3, 2020 Mr. Kenneth Lee Hurlburt, 74, of Mourning Dove Lane in Charlotte, went home to be with the Lord Monday, Feb. 3, 2020. He passed at his home with members of his family present. A funeral service is scheduled for 12 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 8, at Harvest Community Church in Concord. The Revs. Jeff Burris and Mike Thevenin will officiate. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 to 11:45 a.m., prior to the service. Born Sept. 29, 1945, in Canandaigua, N.Y., he was the son of the late Clarence and Katherine Hurlburt. He was the husband of Marilyn Hurlburt, who predeceased him approximately 10 years ago. Ken graduated from Canandaigua Academy in New York. He retired from Southeastern Metal Products, where he was a shipping and receiving supervisor. After his retirement he went to work for Ben Mynatt Chevy Cadillac in Concord, where he was a driver, and a part-time sales representative for the Kannapolis Intimidators. He was a member of Harvest Community Church. In addition he was a volunteer at NorthEast Medical Center on the heart floor, an avid bowler on several bowling leagues, and he loved to play golf. Ken fought the good fight, and finished the race with honor and strength in the Lord. He kept the faith for more than 40 years, and his family is blessed to know that he was saved in the mid 1970s. His family is comforted in knowing that he is now made whole in heaven for eternity with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He leaves behind a legacy of believers who will share the gospel with others in a loving and kind way. His family thanks you for your support and prayers during this difficult time. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles "Sonny" Hurlburt; and sister, Hazel Wilkerson. Mr. Hurlburt is survived by his wife, Claire Botelho Hurlburt of the home; three daughters, Shelly Rocha of Kannapolis, Roxann Vaneekhoven of Concord, Brenda Anderson of Canandaigua, N.Y.; son, Robert Hurlburt of Rushville, N.Y.; sister, Barbara Leonard of Binghamton, N.Y.; stepson, Robert Botelho and wife, Kim, of Indian Land, S.C.; stepdaughter, Sharon Botelho of Spartanburg, S.C.; 11 grandchildren, Yohann and Andrew Rocha, Luke Vaneekhoven, Tanner and Téa Hurlburt, Amberlynne, Christopher and Austin Anderson, Justin and Nicholas Botelho, Jillian McGarity; one great-grandchild, Jacob Anderson Vanorstarnd; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
