CONCORD Willie James Gray, 94, of Concord, passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Mrs. Gray was born July 26, 1925, in Stanfield, to Roscoe James and Onnie Mae Tucker. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Walter Gray Jr., and her son, Randy Mitchell Gray. Mrs. Gray was a 50+ year employee of Cannon Mills, Plant 6, as a winder, and later served as payroll clerk. She was also a substitute teacher and summer librarian at Long Elementary School, and later served as president/secretary of the PTA. She was a hard worker all of her life to provide for her family. Mama will be sorely missed every day. She will be remembered for her sweet smile and infinite family stories. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., today (Wednesday, Nov. 6), before the funeral service, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Don Burleyson. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Concord. Survivors include sons, Billy Lee Gray (Deborah), Danny Gray (Paula), Jeffrey Kyle Gray; daughter, Cathy Gray Stone (Walter); and grandchildren, Jennifer Gray, Christian Gray (Chantell), Patrick Gray (Tiffany), Jade Hulse, Taylor Stone (Jessie), Andrew Stone, Erin Gray Gulledge (Chris), and Zachary Gray (Hope).
