CONCORD Mr. Strickland "Strick" Charles Dalton, 67, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019. A service to celebrate his life will be held at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m., with Dr. John Cashwell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, following the service until 6 p.m. Strick was born Dec. 15, 1951, in Mecklenburg County, a son of the late Edward H. "Bud" Dalton and Betty Thompson Dalton. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Lana Dalton; and brother, Frank Dalton. Strick graduated from Western Carolina University with a BA in Social Studies, a master's degree in Administration from UNCC and a six-year degree from Chapel Hill in Administration. He served over 30 years in multiple Cabarrus County Schools as a teacher, then principal. Strick loved being at the beach, whether fishing, playing golf, or enjoying time with his family. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Harrisburg. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Susan Weaver Dalton; daughter, Erin D. Plummer and husband, Rusty, of Harrisburg; son, Erik A. Dalton and wife, Abbie, of New York; grandsons, Jeron Plummer and Luka Dalton; sisters, Diane Camp of New York, Rhoda Locklear of Monroe; brothers, Elwin Dalton and Olin Dalton and wife, Melvia, all of Concord; sister-in-law, Joanie Dalton of Concord; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cabarrus County Education Foundation, 4401 Old Airport Rd., Concord, NC 28025. Condolences may be left at www.wilkinsonfuneralhome.com.
