CHINA GROVE James "Jimmy" Thomas Brown, 83, of Mt. Moriah Church Road in China Grove, passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, at his residence. He was born July 13, 1936, in Cabarrus County, to the late John Luther Brown and the late Ethel Knox Brown. Jimmy was a graduate of Aggrey High School and Carver College of Charlotte and served in the U.S. Navy. He was formerly employed by Bendix Corp. Jimmy was a member of Bethpage United Presbyterian Church where he has served as Chairman of the Deacon Board and usher; was a member of the Sandy Ridge Masonic Lodge; and also played semi-pro baseball for the Kannapolis Blues. Services will be held at Bethpage United Presbyterian Church, 8701 Mooresville Rd. in Concord, Thursday, Oct. 31. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., with funeral services at 2 p.m. Burial will be Friday, Nov. 1, at 9 a.m., at the National Cemetery in Salisbury. Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Clara Kathryn Brown of the home; daughter, Kimberly Miller Hamilton of Richmond, Va.; stepson, Thomas Miller Roseman of Landis; grandson, Desmond Miller of Concord; niece reared as a sister, Sharon Brooks of Kannapolis; nephews reared as brothers, Talmadge Brown (Shelia), the Rev. R.J. Brown (Dorothy) of Concord; aunt, Ellen Knox of Kannapolis; sister-in-law, Louise Brown of Landis; brother-in-law, the Rev. Dr. W.D. Roseman (Verness); and a host of other relatives and friends.
