Two middle schools in Cabarrus County have new principals.

Tim Taylor, principal at Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School, will transfer to Hickory Ridge Middle School (HiRMS), replacing Liz Snyder, who recently took over as principal of Concord Middle School.

Taylor began his career as a middle school social studies teacher in Arizona. He worked as an assistant principal in Davie County Schools before joining Cabarrus County Schools in 2014 as an assistant principal at Northwest Cabarrus Middle School and has served as principal at Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School since 2016.

He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana University and a doctorate degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Taylor will begin his new assignment at HiRMS on July 1.

Dr. Snyder holds a bachelor's degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Gardner-Webb University, an Educational Specialist Degree from Appalachian State University and completed her Doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is finishing her 22nd year in education with teaching positions at North Davidson High School and North Carolina Virtual Public Schools. Dr. Snyder is a National Board Certified Teacher.

Her administrative experience includes six years in Davidson County as assistant principal at Ledford High School and East Davidson High School. In 2009, Dr. Snyder transitioned to the elementary level as an assistant principal at Liberty Drive Elementary from 2009-2012. In 2012, she became the principal at the Alternative Learning Center, now known to Thomasville City Schools as The Bulldog Academy, before returning to Liberty Drive Elementary as principal in 2013. Dr. Snyder served as the principal at Hickory Ridge Middle School for 4 years and was named the 2018 Cabarrus County Schools Principal of the Year.

Dr. Snyder is married to her husband Russ, who is the principal at Mount Pleasant High School, and they have two children, Ryan and Emma.
