The City of Kannapolis now owns 8 acres at end of Irene Avenue at South Cannon and Fairview. Do you suppose a buyer would develop those 8 acres into low income subsidy apartments?

I'm not talking about a ghetto, trashy, unkept apartments. Have any of you ever drove through The Benchmark Apartments in China Grove? The complex is right below the Post office in China Grove, going south. It is practically a little community all on its own. The grounds are very well kept, apartments are in very good condition and there is always a waiting list! There are 24 units, all 1 and 2 bedrooms, all one story. They accommodate seniors, people with disabilities and small families due to 2 bedrooms.

There is such a need for this in all counties of the state, including the Kannapolis area. I do hope someone will seize this opportunity to help create affordable multi-home units for our citizens.
