Northwest Cabarrus and Central Cabarrus high schools have new assistant principals.

Superintendent Chris Lowder recently announced these personnel changes, which were approved by the Cabarrus County Board of Education on Monday, Aug.13.

Lacee Overcash Jacobs, school counselor at Northwest Cabarrus High School (NCHS), has been named assistant principal at the school, replacing Delan Peebles, who resigned.

Jacobs worked as a principal intern at the school during the 2018-2019 school year. She joined Cabarrus County Schools in 2015 as a school counselor at NCHS. Prior to that, she worked as a school counselor in Mint Hill and Wilmington.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and a master’s degree from Wake Forest University. She also recently completed the Aspiring High School Principals Program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Andrew Platek, dean of students at Central Cabarrus High School (CCHS), has been named assistant principal at the school, replacing Elizabeth Foster, who transferred to Rocky River Elementary School.

Platek joined Cabarrus County Schools in 2006 as a high school math teacher. He has held positions at Jay M. Robinson and Northwest Cabarrus High Schools. He joined the leadership team at CCHS in 2018.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from State University New York Geneseo and a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

These changes were effective August 13.
