Troy BarnhardtQ: What is your background, and what qualifies you to represent the people of Mount Pleasant?

A: I have been in the political arena for about 15 years, nine years as mayor of our town. I talk with citizens of our town and understand what they want. I have been through many training sessions to be a leader. Going through Leadership Cabarrus with other individuals from Cabarrus County has given me a great insight into how to lead in government.

Q: What do you see as the issues facing Mount Pleasant right now?

A: Getting more rooftops so our taxes and water/sewer will not keep growing at 12 percent under present leadership. We can have controlled growth and not change the look and feel of our town.

Q: Why are you the best person for this office?

A: Because I have no hidden agenda and am willing to talk with the citizens of our town to hear their side.

Q: What goals do you have for Mount Pleasant, if elected?

A: To do my best to keep taxes and water/sewer bills as low as possible, but upgrade the infrastructure which is greatly needed. Help find a way to have current debt paid off before 2020. I would like to have meetings with the citizens of our town to see their vision of the future for the town of Mount Pleasant.
