Phillip GoodmanQ: What is your background, and what qualifies you to represent the people of Kannapolis?

A: I was born and raised in Kannapolis. I am a tax- paying resident of Kannapolis.

I am a graduate of A.L. Brown High School, Class of 1970, and a U.S. Army veteran with solid values and good moral character.

Most important, I love our city, its heritage, its people, and I care about the welfare of our future city and citizens.

Q: What do you see as the issues facing Kannapolis right now?

A: Our biggest issue or challenge is maintaining a well-planned and managed growth, which will be representative of the entire city.

Along with this challenge is preparation for the additional needs of our city as we grow, such as law enforcement, fire and rescue, medical treatment, schools and elderly care.

Another issue facing our city is to preserve Historical Kannapolis in order not to lose sight of the work and efforts that others paved the way over the past century for us to be where we are today.

Q: Why are you the best person for this office?

A: I have a working knowledge of the history of Kannapolis and the need to preserve the historical aspects of our city while working to develop a solid and affordable future for all residents of our community.

I am a working-class person with solid values and principles, which I live by.

Being a council member is more than a job to me. It is a passion of mine to serve citizens of our city.

Q: What goals do you have for Kannapolis, if elected?

A: One goal is to do my part to ensure our leadership maintains a well-planned and managed growth, which will be representative of the entire city.

Along with this goal is preparation for the additional needs of our city as we grow, such as law enforcement, fire and rescue, medical treatment, schools and elderly care.

Another important goal for me is to ensure we have the opportunity preserve as much as possible of Historical Kannapolis in order not to lose sight of the work and efforts of others who paved the way over the past century for us to be where we are today.

My personal goal is to serve our citizens of Kannapolis with dedication, honesty, commitment and openness by not losing focus on who will have made it possible for me to serve.
