CONCORD—The Concord Downtown Development Corporation and the Historic Concord Preservation Trust have teamed up to host the second annual Hops and Heat Beer & Chili Festival on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 1 to 5 p.m. in downtown Concord.
Hops and Heat will feature local and regional breweries, a taste off of local chili cookers and live musical entertainment.
North Carolina based Cory Luetjen & The Traveling Blues Band will provide live entertainment with a high energy mix of Blues, Funk, and Beach.
The brewery line-up includes Catawba Brewing Company, Pilot Brewing, Red Hill Brewing Company, High Branch Brewing Company, Cabarrus Brewing company, Morgan Ridge Railwalk Brewery and Eatery, Commoners Brewing Company and Southern Strain Brewing Company.
Fourteen chili teams will be competing for best chili over four categories—red, non-red, vegetarian and hot—with attendees using voting tickets to pick their favorites.
A limited number of tickets are on sale now to the general public. Beer & Chili Tasting tickets are $30, and chili-only tasting tickets are $20. Tickets may be purchased online or by calling 704-784-4208. The event will take place in the vehicular lot behind the Historic Cabarrus County Courthouse, next to Means Avenue, in downtown Concord. Tickets include a souvenir tasting glass for those purchasing the beer and chili ticket, voting tickets for the chili cook-off, and live entertainment.
This fundraising event is organized by the Concord Downtown Development Corporation and the Historic Concord Preservation Trust. Hops and Heat is proudly presented by Hilbish Ford with support from Ben Mynatt Family of Dealerships, Cabarrus Magazine, and F&M Bank.
