ROWAN COUNTY -- A new groom was shot in both legs by his brother-in-law during an argument Saturday in China Grove, according to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said 61-year-old Kenneth Mills, who married Debbie Mills, confronted 50-year-old Michael Ray Macy about bringing a dog to the reception venue on Cannon Farm Road.
Officers said Macy, who was also in charge of decorating the wedding getaway truck, was told to take the dog and leave.
According to WBTV in Charlotte, some time later, Mills called Macy to ask him why he hadn’t decorated the truck, to which Macy replied “(expletive deleted) you!”
Mills drove to Macy’s home on Highway 153. Deputies said Macy came toward Mills in the driveway, hit him in the head with a .380 pistol and then shot him in both legs.
Mills was taken to NorthEast Medical Center in Concord for treatment.
Macy was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
