CONCORD- Remember when your mother told you not to eat the cookie dough because you would get sick? Well that is about to change when Cookie Dough Bliss opens in Concord this weekend.
The gourmet, edible cookie dough bar will hold its grand opening on Saturday and says this is “where all your cookie dough dreams come true.”
The new business is located at 8415 Pit Stop Court NW off of Concord Mills Boulevard and will make premium, small batch, ready-to-eat cookie dough that is safe to eat without baking.
Owner Nella Hitz said opening a cookie dough bar is something she has always wanted to do.
“I love to cook and bake. Charlotte is growing so fast I wanted to bring something new to the area for everyone to experience and we just thought it would be the perfect location,” Hitz said. “The mall is right there and it’s one of the busiest malls here in North Carolina.”
And she just loves cookie dough. The shop will feature 20 different flavors including standards like chocolate chip, cake batter and cookies and cream, but also seasonal favorites along with vegan and gluten-free options.
Then there will be a few other concoctions that she came up with, like cookie dough based on the Samoa Girl Scout cookie.
“It’s unique. It’s something that’s really not out there. It differentiates us from a lot of other sweet shops,” she said. “It’s just something new and different and exciting. Our eggs and flour are pasteurized so it kills any bacteria that might cause food-borne illnesses.”
Patrons will also be able to choose from a variety of ways to enjoy the cookie dough. You can choose to get scoops in a cup, handmade waffle cones, make the cookie dough into a sundae or even get the dough placed in between two cookies. Then there will be brownie bars with cookie dough inside, cookie dough pops, ice cream dough pie and cookie dough shakes.
If this sounds right up your sweet tooth alley, you’ll want to be at the grand opening on Saturday, Dec. 2. The store will be open from noon until 9 p.m. but from noon- 2 p.m. all cookie dough is buy one get one.
“I’m super excited,” Hitz said. “We’ve been working on this for a long time, so we are ready.”
When asked what she hopes for her business, Hitz said she hopes that there is always a line out the door.
Once it’s open, the store will also offer a party room, with a wall painted to look like sprinkles, which can be rented for children’s birthday parties or other events. During the parties children will learn how to make their own cookie dough.
This shop is also the first of a franchise. Another store is already planned for downtown Waxhaw and Rock Hill.
