Cabarrus County Schools superintendent Chris Lowder announced the following personnel changes today, which were approved by the Cabarrus County Board of Education on Monday, Oct. 14.

Adrian Parry, principal of Rocky River Elementary School, has been named principal of Hickory Ridge Elementary School, which is set to open in August 2020.

Parry has served as principal of Rocky River Elementary since August 2015. Prior to that, she was an assistant principal of instruction at Patriots STEM Elementary School. She also was a N.C. Principal Fellow Intern at Hickory Ridge Middle School.

Parry began her career with Cabarrus County Schools as a classroom teacher at Carl A. Furr Elementary School in 2008. She also worked as a classroom teacher in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University and a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Tara Butch, principal at R.Brown McAllister STEM Elementary School, has been named principal of Rocky River Elementary School, replacing Adrian Parry.

Butch has served as principal of R. Brown McAllister since February 2016. Prior to that she was assistant principal of instruction at Harris Road Middle School, during which time she was named CCS Assistant Principal of the Year.

Butch joined Cabarrus County Schools in 2012. She also worked as an assistant principal in Gaston County Schools and as a classroom teacher in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from Mount Union College and a master’s degree from Gardner-Webb University.

 These changes will be effective February 1, 2020.
