CONCORD- A camper was destroyed by a fire at the zMax Dragway Wednesday morning.

At 9:50 am on Wednesday, Jan. 31 the Concord Fire Department was notified of a camper on fire at 6570 Bruton Smith Blvd at the zMax Dragway. Crews responded and arrived within 3 minutes to find a fifth wheel style camper with flames coming from the roof.

Units worked quickly to search for any occupants in the camper and to control the blaze. The fire was brought under control within 4 minutes of arrival and fire crews did not find anyone in the camper.

No one was injured and 17 firefighters responded to the alarm along with two engine companies and one ladder company.

The Concord Fire Department was assisted by Concord Police Department and Charlotte Motor Speedway Personnel.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Concord Fire Department’s Fire Marshall’s Office is leading the investigation.

The camper was valued at $55,000.
