CONCORD – Round 2 of Week 1 of the 2019 high school football season continued for Cabarrus County teams with mixed results Saturday evening.

After many teams had Friday night games rescheduled because of inclement weather, three local teams finally took the field. Cream of Cabarrus No. 4-ranked Hickory Ridge rallied to take down No. Central Cabarrus, 27-20, and Concord lost a close one at Southern Pines Pinecrest, 21-13.

The Cabarrus Warriors made another attempt to face High Point Christian on Saturday, but that, too, had to be rescheduled, as the game now is scheduled to be played Monday at 6 p.m. in the Triad.

Another game that initially had been slated for Friday, No. 6 Jay M. Robinson at Mount Pleasant, is expected to be played Monday at 6:30 p.m., with the Bulldogs holding a 7-0 lead.
