An Amber Alert was canceled after two toddlers were found safe, police said.
The Amber Alert was issued Monday night after police said 1-year-old Aziyah Garner and 3-year-old Dior Muhammad were abducted after a woman was murdered at a southwest Charlotte apartment.
Police said 1-year-old Aziyah Garner was found safe around 3 a.m. Tuesday, while Dior Muhammad was found safe hours later.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers are looking for Edward Garner Sr., who is accused of killing 28-year-old Aiesha Summers and taking off with the two children.
Police said Summers’ body was found in an apartment in the Steele Creek area of Charlotte around 4:30 p.m. Monday.
Police said Summers was 24 weeks pregnant at the time she was murdered.
According to WSOC-TV, Garner’s 18-year-old son, Edward Garner Jr., was seen in a car with his father and siblings leaving the homicide scene.
Police said Garner and Garner Jr. were last seen driving a white 2000 Mercedes Benz S430 with NC license tag HCV-1629.
Police said Garner Jr. turned himself in to police after seeing his photo on media outlets.
Garner Sr., is 6-foot-1 with brown short cut hair and brown eyes, has not been located.
Garner Sr. has warrants out for murder and is considered armed and dangerous. He is also facing charges for the murder of an unborn child.
