HUNTERSVILLE – A high school teacher who was recently charged with having a sexual relationship with a student was found dead at her Huntersville home in an apparent murder-suicide.
Police said that 63-year-old Emma Ogle and her husband, 59-year-old Michael Ogle, were found dead with gunshot wounds.
Around 8 a.m., police responded after receiving a call about people barricaded inside the home on Hambright Road with a gun.
Prior to that call, officers said Michael Ogle did not show up to work and a relative went to check on him at the Ogles’ residence. That’s when the relative told police Emma Ogle was holding a gun in the house.
When SWAT gained entry into the home, they found the husband and wife dead, according to police.
Emma Ogle, a teacher at Garinger High School in Charlotte, was arrested and charged last week after she was accused of having sex with a student.
Lake Norman Charter Elementary School, which is across the street from the police investigation, was placed on a "code yellow" lockdown, according to school officials.
