CONC0RD — Two juveniles who escaped a youth development center in Concord were captured on Tuesday, according to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.

Officials said Christopher H. and Mikal M. escaped from the Stonewall Jackson Youth Development Center, on Holshouser Road, some time after 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10.

Police said they believe the juveniles stole a car and left it in the Black Mountain area, then stole another car and drove it to the Hickory area.

Mikal M. was taken into custody in Hickory. Police didn't say where Christopher H. was caught.

They are both back in custody at the detention center.

Officials said on Sunday that because of unpredictability of juvenile behavior during an escape, the NCDPS has a high degree of concern for the safety of the juveniles and the public.

Officials said that under North Carolina law, juvenile records are confidential.

Officials also said the escape is under internal observation.
