ROWAN COUNTY — A second West Rowan Middle School teacher was arrested and charged with sexually based offenses involving a student.
Justin Andrew Avery, 29, was taken into custody Sunday and has been charged with third-degree exploitation of a minor and indecent liberties with a child.
Ethan Andrew Grose, a West Rowan Middle School teacher who was arrested Dec. 23, faces an additional charge of third-degree exploitation of a minor, according to Rowan County deputies.
Grose, who also was charged with indecent liberties with a child, posted a $25,000 bond after being arrested on the initial charge in December. The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office found Grose once the new charge was obtained and took him back into custody.
The sheriff’s office said during the investigation that evidence was obtained that showed both teachers communicated with the student through social media applications and exchanged sexually explicit images.
A third suspect was identified as 24-year-old Donovan Perez Hernandez, who is not associated with Rowan-Salisbury Schools but is a resident of Salisbury.
Warrants were obtained for Hernandez’s arrest, but he has not been found, according to deputies.
Hernandez faces the same indecent-liberties and exploitation charges that Grose and Avery face, and all three cases involve the same juvenile victim.
Anyone with information of the whereabouts of Hernandez is asked to call 911 or Salisbury/Rowan Crime Stoppers at 866-639-5245.
