KANNAPOLIS — Come be a part of the Jiggy with the Piggy Festival on April 29 to May 3 in Kannapolis.
The festival needs volunteers to help with the barbecue competition, 5K walk/run, arts and crafts vendors, concerts, family movie and more.
The festival needs more than 200 people for it to run smoothly, and local residents can be part of the excitement. Proceeds from the festival benefit several nonprofit organizations in the city.
Partners for the weekend events include city of Kannapolis, Kinetic by Windstream, Kannapolis Rotary, Kannapolis YMCA and the 600 Festival Committee.

Old Armor Beer Co. to hold ribbon-cuttingKannapolis’ first brewery will be hosting a ribbon-cutting and grand opening weekend starting today, with food, music and premiers of new beers.
Food trucks will arrive at the event at 3 p.m. today, while the ribbon-cutting will be at 4 p.m.
At 6 p.m., Old Armor will release a Cherry Porter, and from 7-10 p.m. South Carolina country singer Doug McCormick will perform.
This is part of a weekend of festivities in downtown Kannapolis which features live concerts every day on the weekend, with Chris Ruediger playing at 7 p.m. Saturday and live music from Hupp on Sunday from 2-6 p.m.
Old Armor will also release its Orange Creamsicle Ale on Saturday at 3 p.m.
