GASTON COUNTY – An inmate is on the run after he was mistakenly released from the Gaston County Jail on Wednesday.
Gaston County deputies said two inmates were accidentally released, but one of those inmates was found.
Kyle Auten, 35, is the missing inmate.
After the inmates were released, officers were notified and searched through the night.
Authorities have not said how the inmates were mistakenly released.
Auten is in jail on charges of possession of a firearm by a felon (two counts), possession with intent to manufacture sell and deliver heroin, trafficking methamphetamine (two counts), possession of a stolen motor vehicle and a felony probation violation.
Auten was found with more than 250 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a stolen car, a pistol and AR-15 rifle, police said.
He was in jail under a $250,000 bond.
