CONCORD — A seafood processor and distributor will relocate from Charlotte to Concord.

Concord City Council motioned to approve Inland Seafood’s move into an existing building on Westmoreland Drive NW off of Derita Road in Concord.

The facility, which says it is the “largest full-line processor and distributor of more than 2,000 fresh, frozen, smoked and specialty seafood items in the Southeast” will bring in about 100 jobs, however, most of those jobs will be transferred from Charlotte.

Officials say about 30 to 50 new jobs will be available within the next couple of years, paying about $48,000 per year.

“It’s a good company for the city,” Concord City Manager Lloyd Payne said. “I think they are still working on the details but it is our understanding that with our incentive approval and the county’s incentive approval, it would occur.”
