CONCORD — Cannon School is pleased to announce that Regina Nixon has been appointed as the next head of Lower School, effective July 1.
Nixon is an experienced teacher and independent school administrator, with 13 years of experience working in a broad range of positions.
Since 2018, she has served as the assistant head of Middle School at Nashoba Brooks School in Concord, Massachusetts.
She has also worked at Nashoba Brooks as the director of admission for three years, director of educational technology and innovation for two years, and instructional technologist for one year.
Nixon began her career as a second-grade teacher in Farmville. She will receive her doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Pennsylvania this spring.
“It is with the utmost joy and complete honor that I express my excitement to join the Cannon community,” Nixon said.
“From the moment I set foot on campus, I knew Cannon was a special place, and it was evident why I was able to see so many smiling and happy children throughout the day. During my visit, it was amazing to experience the care and love you put into creating a place of belonging that lives by its core values.”
“Regina distinguished herself in the search not only for her leadership and independent school background, but also for her inviting personality, wide and rich expertise, and clear commitment to excellent educational experiences for children,” said Head of School Christopher Jones.
“As we imagine together how Cannon School will encourage our youngest learners in the early steps of their journeys of growth, I am confident Regina’s contributions will be lasting and profound.”
The announcement is the culmination of a national search led by an eight-person committee composed of school community members and in conjunction with search partner Wickenden Associates.
