CONCORD — The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office celebrated 15 deputies for their recent promotions and achievements.
“We are very proud of the men and women we’re recognizing tonight,” said Sheriff Van Shaw at the recognition ceremony Monday. “Law enforcement takes a level of commitment, and the acknowledgment of this group’s dedication, hard work and sacrifice is well-deserved.”

» Joshua Harless to sergeant.
» Ken Troutman to senior deputy.
» Jody Smith to senior deputy.
» David Kennard to senior deputy.
» Jerome Moore to senior detention officer.
Other deputies were recognized for certifications they earned by completing numerous tests, evaluations and community service projects. Formal education, training and experience in the field are also factors in earning these certifications.
Advanced law enforcement certificates were awarded to Mark Drummond and April Samples.
Intermediate law enforcement certificates were awarded to Shea Aquilino, Lee Pender Jr., John Brady Jr. and April Samples.
Jon Boswell earned an intermediate telecommunicator certificate, and Amy Showmar earned an advanced detention officer certification.
Intermediate detention officer certificates were awarded to Rodney Wagoner, Mona Hector and Zachary Leontovich.
