Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau officials unveil the first sign of a countywide wayfinding system near the corner of Weddington Road and Bruton Smith Boulevard in Concord Thursday morning. The signs will aid visitors in finding destinations all around the county.
Cabarrus County will install 58 wayfinding signs over the next few weeks. The signs are either attractions based or downtown based, pointing visitors to local tourist sites of the five municipalities. Here’s what you’ll find on the sign:
Three removal panels. This will allow the county to add or change things as the area grows.
Decorative gear. On top of the signs is a small finial, or decorative element, shaped like a gear. This is a shout out to the popularity and influence of motorsports and automotive brand in the area.
Flag logo. Inside the logo is a flag with five different colors representing the five municipalities in Cabarrus County. The colors will translate to the wayfinding signs in that municipality’s downtown. Kannapolis, for examples, has navy blue wayfinding signs, matching to the navy blue spot in the flag.
