Fire forces family from Concord home

CONCORD, N.C. -- Concord firefighters quickly put down a house fire early Saturday, but the blaze displaced a family. At 1:59 a.m. Saturday, Concord Fire Department units responded to the report of a fire at 282 Melrose Drive SW. Crews arrived on the scene within six minutes of being dispatched and found fire and smoke conditions. The fire was extinguished in eight minutes.  There were no injuries and Red Cross is working with the occupants of the dwelling with housing. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
