Concord teen drowns in Stanly County

HARRIS, N.C. -- Authorities say a Concord teen drowned in a Stanly County lake while swimming with friends on Sunday.

Craig J. Vanderhall, 19, of Concord, was swimming in Badin Lake at the Old Whitney train trestle at the end of Pumphouse Road in Harris, when witnesses say he jumped from the train trestle into the water and while swimming to the shore disappeared under the water, according to information provided by the Stanly County Sheriff's Office.
